Last October I had the pleasure to work with the Ogilvy group out of Brazil for the upcoming Coca-Cola Cinco De Mayo campaign. This was in collaboration with Ogilvy NY. We shot this campaign over two days in Los Angeles and what an amazing experience it was. Over 100 degrees both days, a star studded LA crew including Megan Sluiter – Producer, Patrick Muller – Props (www.patrickmuller.com) & Jasmine Hamed – wardrobe (www.stylistjasmine.com) & France Pierson H/M (www.francepierson.com). Retouching done by the always amazing Sugar Digital (www.sugardigital.com).

The new EBAY campaign is live!

a.farnum and his super star team had the honor to be a part of another EBAY campaign! This time for Mother’s Day. In collaboration with Venables, Bell & Partners, our shoot spanned multiple days and multiple locations. We had an incredible cast and crew including the always amazing Carmel Cottingham (www.carmelcottingham.com) producing. All in all, this was such an amazing experience and the guys are Venables are always incredible partners. A special thanks for Cris Logan (DD), Angie McDonald (AD) and the amazing Jacqueline Fodor (AB). Here are a few of my favs…

Fatted Calf Cookbook – “In the Charcuterie”

I was fortunate to collaborate with the incredibly talented Taylor Boetticher and Toponia Miller, owners of the San Francisco and Napa based Fatted Calf, for their new book “In the Charcuterie” published by Ten Speed and due out this fall. The Fatted Calf is all about high-quality meats that are organic, hormone-free, and sourced from local farms.

This book was a HUGE undertaking! Shooting over 12 days throughout last summer, I worked closely with my favorite stylist, Christine Wolheim (www.wolheimstyle.com) under crazy conditions to create these images. From Wasps on the food, to watching the slaughter of a hog, this project really opened my eyes to the world of meat preparation.

A special thanks for Christine for all your hard work and determination and to Maria Del Rio (www.delriophotography.com) for coming on and helping us on those crazy days. And lastly, to Taylor and Toponia for believing in us and giving us the ability to collaborate with you. This is going to be a killer book!

Portraits for Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Last month I headed up to wine country to photograph four interesting individuals. In a nutshell, these ladies and gentlemen are the key to good wine. They are the farmers who grow the grapes, tend the land, and sell their product to the big time labels. Their hands are dirty, their faces are weathered, but their spirits were unmatched. Here’s a few of my favorites and a special shout out to Charlie Wolleson (older gent in blue) for being especially amazing. Such a seasoned life, I applaud you good sir!

These images were all shot on location, in a garage, in the vineyards or in a parking lot. We set up a mobile studio in order to achieve a continuous look.

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing super star chef Michael Chiarello (owner of Bottega in Napa) for Food Arts Magazine. He is in the process of opening his newest establishment in San Francisco which is sure to make waves. We spent the morning shooting different set-ups but this one was my absolute favorite! Sums him up perfectly. Great to meet you Michael!

Late last year I travelled to Healdsburg with my A+ team for a day of lifestyle shooting for La Crema wines. Over 12 talent spent the day tasting wines, chit chatting and looking super cute to help tell the La Crema story. All in all the shoot was a success and much of the work can be seen throughout La Crema brand materials including their site.

How to navigate a mexican market

Last November I had the opportunity to shoot a unique story for Sunset Magazine about how best to navigate a Mexican supermarket (supermercado!). I travelled to Pheonix AZ and met up with the most interesting woman! Her name is Sylvana Esparza. She is the founder of a few different restaurants including Barrio Queen (www.barrioqueen.com) which is AMAZING! If you are ever in Scottsdale AZ, you gotta go!

Anyhow, the story turned out quite interesting, the images were cool and different, and the adventure?? Life’s always an adventure!
