BRUCE MITCHELL, SCULPTOR
Bruce Mitchell is a sculptor who uses found wood as his medium. Living in Northern California, Bruce has access to many beautiful types of wood such as Redwood, Acacia, Cedar, Eucalyptus, Western Maple and Douglas Fir. His career has spanned over that last half century starting with an apprenticeship with the renowned Sculptor, J.B. Blunk. Mitchell's works are simple in form, beautiful and bold, without being too large or overbearing. They carry with them a feminine sensibility and a touch of ethnicity from Africa to Oceana. He doesn't overthink the process, but rather instills his own emotional attachment to each individual piece and follows that feeling as he cuts, saws chisels, and subtracts.
